Service to the People of Indianapolis

Before being sworn into elected office on January 1, 2007, Beth worked for former Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson in various capacities, including Director of Constituent Services, Public Access Counselor, Deputy Director of the Department of Metropolitan Development, and Deputy Corporation Counsel. As Deputy Corporation Counsel, she hired, supervised and directed more than 50 lawyers, paralegals and other staff members in representing more than 30 city and county departments, agencies, boards and commissions. Beth was the legal liaison for the City/County Council, the Indiana General Assembly and other local, state and federal elected officials. She monitored legislation and testified on behalf of the administration in various legislative bodies. In addition to those duties, she was appointed by Mayor Peterson to serve as Chair of the Marion County Advisory Council for Polling Place Accessibility under the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) in 2004.
